Branding
When the salon first opened a few years ago, I designed their logo, which is used on their storefront, their business cards, and price menu.
02
Homepage redesign
Previous homepage
- Layout was provided by Squarespace
- Clients liked the clean, minimalistic aesthetic and wanted to keep that
- Wanted to simplify the website further and refresh the look — lots of content on the homepage
Now
- Featured image in the back, with corresponding messages over top. Three featured images that change as the user scrolls down on the homepage
- I chose to use a featured image in the background because:
- The first photo with a close up of nails focuses the user's attention on the product the salon is trying to sell
- A large image can create an emotional connection and strong first impression for the user
- Aside from the first image of the nails, the two other images correlate with the message written on those slides — about the comfortable environment, and the salon being a local business
03
Services page
- Description of each service would get cut off on each service card
- To give greater emphasis to the name of each service and make it easier for users to find the service they are searching for, I added a flip animation to each card. When users hover over or click on each service card, the card will flip to reveal the description of each service, the duration, and a "Book Now" button leading users to the booking site
04
Gallery page
- Instead of having a gallery at the very bottom of the homepage, I created a separate page
- Merged the Instagram feed with a manually-selected gallery on this Gallery page
- Instagram feed is added as an embed and will update as the salon posts new photos
